Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
EggScout is a private retail-research workspace for an organization's team. This policy explains what information the service handles when an invited team member signs in and records a supermarket visit.
Information the app handles
- Team identity: the first and last name entered at sign-in, used to identify the team member and label visits. The company invite code is checked by the server and is not saved as part of the member profile.
- Store visits and research: the supermarket branch selected for a visit, its name and address, visit date and time, egg product details, package claims, prices, edits, and review status.
- Photos: shelf photos selected or taken by a team member, kept as private visit evidence and used to create or verify product and price observations.
- One-time location: if a team member chooses nearby-store search, the device coordinates are sent to the app server and Google Places to find nearby supermarkets. The raw device coordinates are not saved in EggScout. The selected branch details, including location supplied by Google Places, may be saved with the visit.
- Security data: failed sign-in attempts use a keyed hash of the client network address for rate limiting. The app does not store the raw address in its rate-limit table.
How information is used
EggScout uses this information to provide team sign-in, look up supermarket branches, store visit evidence, analyze shelf photos, prepare product and price observations, and let the team review, correct, compare, and export its research. The service does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Service providers
EggScout uses Vercel to host the app and store private photos, Neon to host the research database, Anthropic to analyze photos when a team member requests AI extraction, and Google Places to find supermarket branches. Information sent to these providers is used to operate those features and is subject to their respective terms and privacy practices.
Access, retention, and requests
Access is limited to people with the organization's invite code. The organization controls how long its research records are kept. To request access changes, correction, or deletion of a team profile, visit, or photo, contact the company administrator who invited you. EggScout does not currently provide a self-service team-account deletion feature.
Children and changes
EggScout is a business research tool and is not directed to children under 13. This policy may be updated when the service changes; the effective date above will be revised when that happens.
For privacy questions or requests, contact the company administrator who invited you to EggScout.
